Continuing Education Hours Available: LCSW/LMSW, LMHC, LMFT – Earn 5 Contact Hours…
“Living” with our clients through health & illness is our work as mental health professionals. There are times we travel with them during their life-changing illnesses or the ending of their lives. None of us is immune to disease, accidents or mortality. Sometimes in our professionals lives, we, too, may have to cope with an illness that will impact our clients. The focus will be heavily on the therapeutic relationship between the client and the therapist with an emphasis on the impact on the client from a Gestalt Perspective.
Through experiential exercises, group discussion, feedback on interviews with therapists, and didactic learning this workshop will provide participants with ways to be aware and pay attention to the impact the therapist’s medical condition has on the client. More specifically, the interruptions that occur in the contact boundary will be examined.
Workshop Presenter: Roberta Rachel Omin, LCSW a certified Gestalt Therapist, specializes in treating individuals, couples, families who have special needs. Ms. Omin has published several articles in the Journal of Social Work in End-of-Life & Palliative Care (2014) and in the Clinical Social Work Journal (1989).
