(G-PEP will not offered at this time)
The Gestalt Professional Education Program (G-PEP) is an on-going intensive group for mental health professionals to experience Gestalt therapy training. It is devoted to the study of Gestalt theory and its clinical applications. The group, which meets approximately the first and third Wednesay of each month from 7:30pm – 9:30pm (January – May) is designed for mental health professionals who wish to experience an in depth introduction to Gestalt therapy.
The program is facilitated by a senior staff trainer who works as therapist and trainer. Program members are encouraged to volunteer to work with the staff member on their personal issues. At the completion of each piece of work, there is a discussion of the theory and methodology of Gestalt therapy as it unfolded in the work just completed. This practicum format is an effective and powerful learning approach.
Program members participate in discussions of Gestalt philosophy, methodology, theory and practice. The program is a “hands on” experience, employing both a didactic and experiential way of learning. If appropriate, group members may work as therapist, under the supervision of the staff member, with a group member volunteer. The group provides an opportunity to work on personal issues in a safe and structured environment, to share professional concerns with colleagues, and to learn the Gestalt approach to psychotherapy.
The program is open to mental health professionals and students in graduate mental health programs. The program is limited to a maximum of eight participants, to ensure an intensive personal and professional learning experience. LCSW/LMSWs earn 20 CE Hours. NBCC members earn 20 Clock Hours.
Participants in the Gestalt Professional Education Program who, are eligible, may wish to transfer to the Center’s Certificate Training Program and may apply for credit for their participation in G-PEP. They are also welcomed and encouraged to attend the Intensive Training Retreats.
G-PEP meets for 10 sessions, approximately the first and third Wednesday of each month beginning January 6 – May 18, 2016. The fee is $950.00(Early Registration by Dec. 11) for the year-long program. Registration Fee after Dec. 11 is $1,000). This is an on-going, incrementally designed program, and participants are expected to attend all sessions.
